How We Got Here
WELCOME TO FERRETTI FAMILY FARM
Hello! We are Peter and Jeannine Ferretti.

Our journey began as best friends in English class during our sophomore year of High School. Fast forward a few years, we were married in 2007. We knew right away our goal was to create a life for ourselves that mirrored the opportunities and experiences we cherished from our upbringing, including a deep connection to animals and agriculture. We quickly realized that to achieve this, starting our own family farm was the way forward. Leveraging Peter's expertise in cattle, other farm animals, and equipment, along with my background in horses, business, and a shared sense of adventure, we embarked on this new chapter with determination.

As first-generation farmers, progress towards our goals have been gradual. We purchased a condo in 2004, followed by a subdivision home in 2006. However, the housing market crash slowed our momentum. In 2012, we acquired our first farm on a small parcel of land, where we encountered and overcame numerous challenges, laying the foundation for our life on the farm. Over the next 8 years, we learned the ropes, facing the unpredictable nature of farm life with its highs and lows, all while balancing separate full-time careers. With the arrival of our second and third children, we transitioned to focusing solely on Peter's professional career.
In October 2020, amidst a global pandemic, we seized an opportunity and relocated our family to a larger farm in Wisconsin, which had previously operated as a dairy farm but had been dormant for over a decade. This new beginning presented us with a blank canvas. We spent months installing fencing, renovating the house, and continuing to shape the buildings and landscape to suit our vision. Despite the ongoing work, we have embraced our new farm wholeheartedly.

In addition to renovations, we fulfilled a long-held wish by constructing a commercial grade high-tunnel greenhouse, completing it in Spring 2022, just in time for the growing season. We also began reestablishing a new heard of registered Hereford cattle. We took the time to select genetics from outside the region, with health and EPD focused traits. Our goal being to provide families with extremely healthy beef from the happiest Herefords in Walworth County.
Our decision to pursue this lifestyle was motivated by our desire to provide our children with a setting where they could learn the value of hard work, caring for animals, and growing food, all while enjoying a quintessential childhood. Additionally, it has allowed us to share our passion for farming with others, hosting friends and family, and engaging with visitors who are curious about our way of life.
